If his invention had worked, Dr. Finley Hunt would be as famous as any other great historical inventer. Half way through the war, Dr. Hunt wrote a letter to Jefferson Davis, the Confederate President. He told Davis that he could change the war in their favor with his invention of steam-powered military flying
machine. On paper Hunt's idea was pretty good, and it was a fairly new idea since the Wright Brother's first successful flight was years in the future. Unfortunatly, he was a dentist and his lack of engineering experience became a flaw in his brilliant idea and the Engineering Bureau reported that the machine could not be built. His whole concept would have been forgotten, if the blueprints had not accidentaly been found in a bookstore in 2011.
